Recent acquisition Saint Aldwyn continued his outstanding start for the stable of Kelly Schweida with another impressive performance when taking out the BM 70 over 1350m at Ipswich Racecourse on the 13th of May. Formerly prepared by Chris Waller, the gelding has thrived since making the move north, winning three of his four starts and rapidly working his way through the grades in excellent fashion.

Given every opportunity from the inside draw, Saint Aldwyn took full advantage of the favourable gate as jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor positioned him perfectly just behind the early speed. Travelling strongly throughout the middle stages, Wilson-Taylor was able to ease the gelding away from the fence approaching the 600m, landing in the ideal one-off running line and setting Saint Aldwyn up to launch his challenge at the top of the straight.

Once presented with clear running, Saint Aldwyn quickly moved to the leaders and looked set for a comfortable victory before fellow contender More Love dug in strongly over the concluding stages. The pair staged a genuine battle to the line, however Saint Aldwyn showed tremendous determination when it mattered most, knuckling down under pressure to score by half a length.

It was another tough and professional display from the improving galloper.
