Kelly Schweida’s stable has enjoyed an outstanding month on the Queensland racing circuit, continuing its strong run of form with a string of impressive victories across metropolitan and provincial meetings. The stable has showcased both emerging talent and progressive gallopers, underlining the depth of quality within the Hendra operation. Over the past month alone, Schweida has prepared nine winners from approximately 50 starters, maintaining an impressive strike rate of around 18 per cent.
The month began with a number of promising maiden graduates. Harry’s Mode broke through at Ipswich on 3 July, before Panemorfos followed with a determined maiden victory at Beaudesert just four days later. Gambino continued the momentum with a commanding Class 2 success on the Gold Coast, while New Mexico shed the maiden tag at Ipswich with a professional performance, suggesting there is more to come from the progressive galloper.
The stable’s rich vein of form continued over the weekend of 18 July, producing a winning double. Metal Man proved too strong at the Gold Coast, recording a convincing victory in Class 1 company, while Taltarni Fields scored an impressive metropolitan success at Doomben, giving the stable another Saturday winner. These victories highlighted the versatility of the team, with winners ranging from lightly raced maidens through to horses capable of performing at city level.
Beyond the winners, the Schweida stable has continued to produce a host of competitive performances, with several runners filling placings and others shaping as future winners. With a healthy mix of experienced campaigners and exciting young horses progressing through the grades, Kelly Schweida’s stable appears well positioned to carry this momentum into the spring racing season.
