Classy mare Flying Jet recorded her second straight win in easy fashion when she strode to victory in the BNB Fresh / Newsxpress Handicap (1350m) at Doomben.
Flying Jet has done a terrific job since joining the Kelly Schweida stable; her emphatic victory was the four-year-old’s third from seven starts for the Eagle Farm trainer.

The daughter of Jet Spur settled second last on the rail for top jockey Larry Cassidy until the rider switched her into clear running at the 650 metres.
Flying Jet simply swept past her opposition to hit the front at the 150 metres before Cassidy gave her a light reminder with the whip, which had the desired effect as the mare easily opened a 2-3/4 length margin on her rivals on the line.
The comfortably won $28,800 winner’s cheque took Flying Jet’s prizemoney to more than $165,000 for her fortunate owner – K Heatley.
Tenacious Jack completed a Doomben double for the Schweida stable with his gutsy win in the Mater Dei School Handicap (1600m).
The son of Snitzel won in solid fashion in midweek company on September 5 before stepping up grade to tackle Saturday company at Doomben.
Tenacious Jack jumped well to have the box seat early but dropped back to midfield when the speed increased approaching the 800 metres. Jockey Tom Bell was content to sit quietly until he eased the four-year-old off the fence to start his run rounding the home turn.
Tenacious Jack rallied strongly before bravely taking a narrow run between the leaders to score his second consecutive city victory by a neck.
The win was Tenacious Jack’s third from his past four starts and took his prizemoney to $66,600 for his owner – A Meads.
