Exciting three-year-old filly Tiger Dimejan made a brilliant start to her career with her dominant win in the Coke Zero Maiden Plate (1010m) at Doomben.
Tiger Dimejan showed promise in two trials as a juvenile but her trainer Kelly Schweida decided to be patient with the daughter of Falvelon, preferring to wait until her three-year-old season to produce her.
Ric McMahon rode Tiger Dimejan in her debut assignment. Tiger Dimejan’s terrific early pace enabled McMahon to position her on the outside of the leader with a minimum of fuss soon after the start.
Tiger Dimejan displayed a high cruising speed to apply pressure to the leader without expending too much energy, leaving McMahon with plenty of horse under him for when he asked her to quicken.
Tiger Dimejan sprinted decisively when asked to hit the front at the 200 metres.
The inexperienced galloper was a touch green in the straight but still to put a 2-1/4 length margin on her opposition in the final furlong of the race to earn an $11,050 winner’s cheque, plus a $7000 bonus for her owners.
Meanwhile, Miss Bradbury completed a double on the Doomben program when she won the Ascend Sales (1350m) in a tight finish.
The daughter of Bradbury’s Luck defied the prevailing pattern of the Doomben meeting when she surged home from the back of the field to score an impressive win.
A strong early gallop aided Miss Bradbury’s chances but the grey mare did a terrific job to force her way through a narrow opening before hitting the line hard to score by a head.
The victory was Miss Bradbury’s first for the Kelly Schweida stable but the consistent five-year-old had notched four minor placings before her latest win.
Congratulations to the owners of both promising horses.
